Dobson withdraws from race
I want to thank all of you who voiced your support for my candidacy for the Florida State House of Representatives, District 1. But, I have decided to withdraw my name from consideration. I have enjoyed meeting and speaking with many of you concerning the issues of our great state and the issues that matter to you and me. I can assure you I will continue to do my part in standing up for our rights and privileges.
I am a concerned Floridian who recognizes the blessings of living and working in such a great state. My decision to withdraw is based, in part, on my offer and acceptance of a position with a state agency. Therefore, you need to know that I will continue to work for the citizens of the state of Florida in this capacity. The state statutes are very clear when it comes to state employees running for elected state offices. I do not want my campaign to interfere with my current duties and responsibilities I have with my state employment.
I have found that if we choose to live in a better community, we must be accountable for ourselves and look for positive approaches to handle the challenges we face. I implore all of you to consider who you will vote for with a keen eye to who has the greatest work experience and passion to represent you in Tallahassee. Usually when a person has a passion for a task, they believe they can achieve. And the first step in accomplishing any goal is believing you can do it! Find your passion and pursue it, but don’t forget about your neighbor! Let us help one another and be willing to recognize the worth of all humanity and the potential contribution that we all can offer to our communities, our state, our nation, and our world.
God Bless You All!
Matt Dobson
